It’s no exaggeration, the first few months of this year have been an absolute blur. Just like the new wall mural located in Calgary’s new public library downtown, I needed to step back to see things clearly. It’s not all good news either with the loss of several family members including my father and stepdaughter in February. Life goes on – right? It sure does and before all hell broke loose I had an incredible opportunity to join Victoria’s Mayor Lisa Helps, local icon Gene Miller and podcast host Eric Bramble to talk about our newest project called the Gateway, as well as a few interesting tidbits on Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) and Community Safety. You can listen in right here on 29er Radio, it aired on February 10th and the four of us had a blast in the Mayor’s Office at City Hall.
Yes, it’s official! My colleague Brekke Beyer and I have been invited back for the second year in a row to the Alberta Community Crime Prevention Conference in beautiful Canmore, Alberta this May. We are delivering a 2-day Pre-Conference workshop on Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED). We’ll be introducing our Full Spectrum approach and a segment on Placemaking so check out the details and join us for another great conference. This years theme is “Together for a Safer Tomorrow – Inspiring Voices for Change in Community Safety.”
