We are pleased with the growth of our urban ideas blog since it was launched about six months ago. The content is growing and we are attracting an engaging group of ‘urban explorers’ as both contributors and readers.
For 2013, we have two new features that you might not have noticed.
First, you can now subscribe to receive our new blog posts by email. No spam – just the blog posts. You can receive immediate notification when each post goes live, or sign up for a weekly digest that gives you a snapshot of the new posts. It’s easy to skim them, click through on the ones that interest you, and move on.
The SUBSCRIBE tool is in the right hand column of each blog page. You can, of course, unsubscribe at any time if you change your mind.
Second, we are launching The Places Project in early 2013. It’s an action-oriented initiative in Greater Victoria (BC, Canada) that brings together our three themes: great places, great public engagement, and creative urban change. Working directly with other professionals and a broad mix of citizens, we will identify public spaces in Greater Victoria that have the potential to be better places. We are sponsoring a series of “walk and talk” interactions where we visit these sites, discuss their potential, and put together ideas for change.
Of course, we will be documenting The Places Project on our blog. Watch for an announcement of the first location. We will use Meetup for listings the specifics of our gatherings and giving people an online space to interact about Greater Victoria placemaking.
Finally, an open invitation – we welcome your photos, blog posts, Comments on existing posts, and inquiries.
