Collaborative Consultant in Well-Being & Transformation
Sylvan Lake, AB
B.L. left the “organized” workforce 2 years ago after an over 30 year career in Human Services. She describes herself as a Community Builder and says that all is possible with relationship and connection.
She believes that humans are intrinsically good but, when enough negative events and trauma are experienced(ACE’s), any human that is pushed to survival mode will not exhibit his or her best behavior.
Those who have become “unmanageable”, “homeless”, “marginalized”, often lose their “place” in society and community. They are “devalued”, “shunned”, and seen as a problem. Those who have been incarcerated are not “re-membered” to society in a welcoming and supportive way. They join the other “unmanageable”, “devalued”, Social Justice is already out of balance, much more so if you are one of our marginalized citizens. Righting the “wrongs” begins with understanding and relationship building.
B.L. offers her experience in Community Building and Facilitation using Peacemaking Circles as effective tools to use in finding common ground on which to create or transform our communities to safe, inclusive spaces for all.
Formerly the Executive Director for the Central Alberta FASD Network, she served on the Premiers Council on the Status of Persons with Disabilities and most recently a facilitator of Wellbriety healing programs at Bowden Institution. B.L.’s educational background includes managing non-profits (Simon Fraser), organizational development (Carver Governance Academy) , human services (Douglas College, National Institute on Mental Retardation) and the Justice Institute of B.C..
B.L.is excited to join Rethink and be part of the Synergy that is created when likeminded individuals find opportunities to align, offering their very best in human character ethics and individual passion. Magic Can Happen
